  • June 11-13 D Day 60 – The Freedom races: Thousands converge annually on the town of Caen to run and remember those who lost their lives on the Normandy beaches on 6th June 1944.
  • July 3-4 Bayeaux Medieval Festival: A magnificent festival of jousting, feasting and entertainment – in its 19th year in 2005.
  • June 7 Fete Saint Clair: The pretty village of Banneville-sur-Ajon in Normandy celebrates the donkey in its annual festival devoted to Saint Clair.


    Brittany

  • July 6 – 11 Le Tombees de la Nuit: Extravagant music, light and sound show held in the medieval town of Rennes.
  • July 17 – 25 Festival de Camouaille: Brittany’s biggest celebration of Breton culture with street musicians and exciting parades in Quimper.
  • July 24 – 25 Festival des Ramparts: Summer celebration of all things medieval including jousting tournaments, music and dance in Dinan.

    Loire

  • June 7-13 Loire Valley Wine Festival: Situated at the Parc des Mini – Chateaux in Amboise this festival attracts thousands who all receive 3 bottles of wine as gifts from attending the festival.
  • June 12 – 13 Le Mans 24-hour car race
  • June 15 – July 10 Anjou Theatre Festival: high-quality production in front of the striking ancient monuments of Angers
  • July 12 – 14 Music Sur I’lle Festival: Bands and artists from around the world come to Nantes for a fun-filled summer festival.

 
    Paris
Parc Locations: Paris; Berny Riviere; Verdelot;

 
     
  • May 30 The Great Paris Steeplechase: The most prestigious event in the French equestrian season.
  • June 9 – 13 Le Carre Rive Gauche - Antique art is displayed all along the Rue de Bac in Paris.
  • June 21 Fete de la Musique: Musicians from all over the world perform free concerts in venues across Paris.
  • July 13 – 14 Bastille Day Celebrations.

  • May 20 – 23 Breda Jazz Festival: One of the oldest and best-known in the world with music from local and international artists.
  • June 24-26 Dutch Moto GP: attracts an incredible 170,000 to Assen.
  • July 30 – 31 Zomercarnaval: extravagant yearly street parade and carnival held in Rotterdam.

  • July 3 Rhine in Flames: Mind-blowing pyrotechnical spectacles staged in Bingen, in the picturesque Rhine valley.
  • July 30 – August 2 Wiesbaden Wine Festival: One of Germany’s largest wine festivals with stands from over 100 vineyards around the elegant city centre.
  • July 15 – 18 Jazzopen Festival: Four nights of international Jazz stars comes to Stuttgart

  • May 30 Vogalonga: One of Venice’s biggest events, a boat race with huge crowds cheering on the the international competitors
  • June 5 – 13 Festival del Fitness: A great opportunity to tone the muscles before hitting the beach in Rimini
  • June 19 – August 31 Verona Opera Festival: The unique Roman amphitheatre at the heart of Verona hosts a series of open-air performances
  • July 16 Festa del Redentore: Splendid fireworks light the sky and an entire armada of decorated gondolas and oared boats colonise the canals of Venice.




       
Catalonia

  • May 9 Formula One: Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit de Catalunya, just outside Barcelona.
  • May 27 – 29 Primavera Sound Festival: a massive line-up of top class live acts and DJs flock to Barcelona.
  • June 25 – August 15 Barcelona Summer Festival: the most important cultural event of the season
